ANXIETY

Anxiety is a reaction to stress. Some symptoms may include: feeling nervous, restless, tense, having an increased heart rate, or even hyperventilation. This is normal. Anxiety is a normal reaction to stress. However, when you are coping with an anxiety disorder take those few symptoms and triple it. I personally know the affects of an anxiety disorder and how much it can take a toll on the body emotionally, mentally and even physically.

Today, we are going to talk about how to cope with anxiety.

When you start to experience anxiety you are not in the present moment. You’re most likely thinking about an outcome of a situation that may come in the potential future. May come… Which means that it may not even happen. But we stress and overthink about that particular situation/outcome to the point where it affects your physical, mental and emotional well-being.

Anxiety is a normal response to stress. This means that it cannot necessarily be removed. You can’t get rid of anxiety. But you can reduce the amount or level of anxiety you experience. You can do this by trying different methods to help you cope.

Here are 4 tips:

1. Keep physically active

Being physically active doesn’t always mean exercising and going to the gym. Although, you can do those things, and these things do help, you can be active or physical in other ways. Cleaning your house, or cleaning out areas of your house, like your closet is a way of being active.

2. Make Sleeping and Eating a Priority

Sometimes, stress can cause us to forget to do basic things for ourselves. We can forget to eat and even sleep. These two basic everyday necessities are so important and need to be of a high priority. Your well-being should be of utmost importance to you personally. Take care of yourself. Make sure to eat and get lots of stress.

3. Identify your Triggers

Know and identify what triggers you. Sometimes it isn’t something that triggers you. It can at times be someone who triggers your anxiety. It might seem silly. But, this is a very real thing. If someone often triggers your anxiety, what should you do? Well, when something is not benefiting your well-being, what would you do? Do what’s best for you. Sometimes, it’s good to be a little selfish, never forget that!

4. Don’t Isolate Yourself

Please, please, please when you are feeling overwhelmed with anxiety, do not isolate yourself. It’s so easy to do that. Trust me, I know. Talk to someone. Whether you decide to speak to a professional or a good friend, talking to someone can help to relieve the overwhelming stress.

Anxiety is unavoidable. But we can take steps to help cope with anxiety. Try one or two of these tips and see if they work for you!
