CHANGE YOUR LIFE TODAY

Life is full of decisions. We all have a few past decisions that from time to time that we regret.

Why? Well, it’s because your life and how you live it, reflect the decisions you’ve made. So really, any decisions whether past, present or future can have some affect on your life.

But, let me tell you something.

You cannot change the past. Whatever happened in the past, no matter how severe, do your best to leave it there. Don’t bring your past into your present. Doesn’t mean at times that you won’t think about your past, but just make sure that the past doesn’t ruin the gift of the present.

Now, here’s a question, when you start to regret your past decisions, what do you do about it? This is key. It’s what you do about it, that’s important.

Many look at past decisions that they’ve made and instead of proactively doing something about it, they just get comfortable with life the way it is. They fail to take accountability for their life and the decisions that were made. Please note that taking accountability doesn’t just mean admitting to making those decisions, especially when they may have been hard to admit. Taking accountability also means to do something about it.

Okay, but why do some people fail to take accountability?

Well, some believe that their circumstances in life, excuse them from taking accountability. Circumstances? Yes. Where and how they grew up, their relationship with their parents, it can be many different things. Whatever the circumstance they use it as a way to not take accountability. Which leads them to stay in the same spot for the majority of their life.

So, how can this be avoided? How can you make a change today?

3 things.

WILL FACTOR. What is the will factor? The will factor is to change the “I wish” to “I will”. For example, instead of saying “ I wish I had a job so that I can be financially independent and provide for my family”, you would say, “I will get a job so that I can better provide for my family.” Saying I will makes what you want to do more real to you. “I wish” is another way of saying, “it’d be nice if I could get.” “I will”, confirms that action is being taken.

EXCUSE TO REASON. Turn your excuses to the reasons why you want to change your life for the better. For example, instead of saying “I can’t get a job and be financially independent because I have 3 children and don’t have time”, turn that excuse into the reason why you will get a job. Change that to, “I will get a job because I have 3 children and want to be able to provide for them financially.”

BE CLEAR. Make sure to be clear about what you want. For example, you want a job. What kind of job do you want? Is it in a specific field? Part time or full time?

Being clear requires you to be honest with yourself. It also involves making a plan and following through with it. But, first and foremost, before setting out a plan, figure out what the goal is first and be very specific what you really want.

Taking these first few steps can lead you on the path to changing your life for the better.
