UPGRADE YOUR MINDSET

How does one upgrade their mindset? What is mindset? Well, as I mentioned in the previous blogpost, mindset is what you believe about the world and about yourself. It then influences you on how to think, feel or behave in a situation based on those beliefs.

Okay, so now that we’ve got a little understanding of what mindset is, it’s time to think about what it means to upgrade something? Upgrading something means to make whatever it is better, to take it to the next level. So, upgrading our mindset means to make the way we perceive things better. Now, how can we do this?

Let’s talk about it.

First way that we can upgrade our mindset is by changing or adjusting the way we speak to ourselves.

Remember this, the way that you speak to yourself, is a direct reflection of your mindset. What you tell yourself is a direct reflection of how you perceive things. The thoughts that you feed your mind with become your reality. What does that mean? If you feed your mind with negative thoughts, then your reality will become negative. For example, if you keep telling yourself, “I’m not worth it”, then it will become your reality, in that you’ll start to believe that you’re not worth it. Instead of saying to yourself that you’re not worth it, write down what makes you think that you’re not worth it. Yes, that’s right. Write it down. What makes you think that you’re not worth it? Whatever you think it is that makes you unworthy, take them one by one and ask yourself, “what can I do to change that?” Then write down a list of three things you can do to change that one thing that makes you unworthy. After that, stop. Pause, and reflect on each of the three things and then ask yourself, “How will I accomplish each of these things?” From there, you write down a plan. Each time you find yourself going back to these negative thoughts you can go back to this method and start again.

These “negative thoughts” are more commonly known as limiting beliefs. Don’t feel bad when these limiting beliefs show up. Why? Although, limiting beliefs can be seen as setbacks from seeing your full potential, they are a great way to see what you need to improve. Consider it an opportunity. An opportunity to crack open and expose things that maybe you didn’t see needed some improvement.

In the previous blogpost, I talked briefly about taking a look at your surroundings. Surround yourself with people who have a similar mindset. That doesn’t mean surround yourself with people who are doing the same thing as you. You could be doing the same thing but have very different mindsets. Watch and listen to your surroundings. Are they saying, “I wish,” or are they saying, “I can.” Think about it.

The next thing you want to do is step out of your comfort zone. Constantly seek challenges. This requires you to change from a fixed mindset to a growth mindset. What is a fixed mindset? A fixed mindset is when you believe that the way you think, or the way you perceive things doesn’t require any kind of growth. You essentially believe that the way you think, is perfectly fine and there is no need for change. Okay, so what is a growth mindset? Well, it’s the opposite. Growth mindset is when you believe that the way you perceive things can grow, can evolve, can change. And this is where we want to be. Growing. Evolving. Changing.

Once these things become a routine, your mindset with continue to upgrade to the next level. So, how can we upgrade our mindset? Remember, the way that you speak to yourself, is a direct reflection of your mindset. The thoughts that you feed your mind with become your reality. Feed your mind with positive thoughts, so that they become your reality. View limiting beliefs as an opportunity to see what you may need to improve. Surround yourself with people that have a similar mindset. Step out of your comfort zone, seek challenges. Grow. Evolve. Change. Now you’re ready to upgrade your mindset!
